Stakes Saturday at Sensational Santa Anita

On the second day of the New Year, we take in a stellar Turf Stakes race in sunny Southern California.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {San Gabriel~G2~1 1/8 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A superb field of eleven will take to the grass in this feature stakes race. There is some speed to insure an honest pace. Speed figures are reasonably close making it a competitive event. All are coming off a brief freshening. These lads have all raced over the Santa Anita Turf except for one. It should be a great race.

#10 Chiropractor (Nakatani / Proctor) is in good form and should have the edge here. He holds the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and three solid workouts. This son of Kitten's Joy loves this distance and should get the pace required to launch his closing kick.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $4 SHOW.

#2 Big John B (Bejarano / D'Amato) will challenge with the highest last our speed number, a two race progression, and three hearty workouts. He has the third highest speed number over the Turf which adds to his luster. This son of Hard Spun should launch a vigorous closing effort heading for home.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#5 Power Ped (Gutierrez / Drysdale) should contend sharing the second highest last ut speed number, working a three race progression, and putting in four stamina producing workouts. This son of Powerscourt [GB] should be forwardly placed ready to get first jump into the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#7 Bal a Bali [BRZ] (Prat / Mandella) should be in the mix as he had run longer distances in his native Brazil. He holds the fourth highest last out speed number and has put in three robust peaking workouts. A son of Put It Back, he should be tracking the pace ready to strike.
