Another Premiere Sunday

Another close to the horse racing weekend with a look at races at two of the premiere tracks, Saratoga and Del Mar, in the country.  They both will close their seasons' this week.  The unofficial close of Summer happens tomorrow on Labor Day.  Fall racing leading up to the Breeders Cup is just around the corner.

Saratoga Race 10 {Spinaway~G1~7 furlongs~2 year old~fillies~Stakes}
An absolutely wonderful race with eight entrants conditioned by some of the best trainers in the country.  Todd Pletcher has four fillies going to the gate.  None of the fillies in this race have gone the distance of 7 furlongs.  The edge in the race goes to Alienation (Hill / Baffert) with the highest (three-way tie) last out speed number and two exceptional workouts.  One of the Pletcher entrants stands out a little more than the others, R Heat Lightning (Gomez / Pletcher).  She also shares the highest last out speed number and has put in two robust workouts.  Le Mi Geaux (Lenclud / R. Dutrow) appears ready for a big outing with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four fabulous, peaking workouts.  There is no superfecta offered in this race.  Let's play Saratoga.

$1 WIN / SHOW:  #3 Alienation.
$1 SHOW:  #7 R Heat Lightning.
$1 SHOW:  #5 Le Mi Geaux.
NO 10 CENT Superfecta offered.

Del Mar Race 5 {Del Mar Derby~G1~1 1/8 mile~Turf~3 year old~Stakes}
A small field of six rising stars are entered seeking this graded stakes victory.  Twirling Candy (Rosario / Sadler) is the speed horse to catch with the highest last out speed number and four aggressive, peaking workouts.  Kid Edward [IRE] will challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three strong, peaking workouts.  Fantastic Pick [GB] looks fine with the third highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and a great workout.  Summer Movie (Espinoza / A. Sherman) will be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number and one athletic workout.  Royal F.J. (Bejarano / Canani) has an exceptional in the money record (10 for 10) over the surface and is on a three race progression. He looks ready to run a big race.  Let's play Del Mar.
