Dirt Sunday

We are closing out our horse racing weekend on dirt looking at races at Hastings (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and at Monmouth Park.

Monmouth Park Race 8 {1 1/16 mile~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A very nice field of eight go to the gate in this allowance feature.  Hung Jury (Fragoso / Sacco) seems to have the edge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one strong workout.  He holds good tactical speed where he can track the leaders and join in the fray in the stretch.  Raven Hawk (P. Lopez / Asmussen) looks ready to challenge coming off a Turf route with a decent speed number and three tenacious, peaking workouts.  African Diamond (Trujillo / Brown) may well be the favorite with the highest speed number at the distance, the third best last out speed number at a longer route, and three solid workouts.  Muhaaseb (Castro / McLaughlin) will be moving up in distance and should be ready to fire with three quality workouts.  Quick Ride (Bravo / Pompay) will be in the hunt with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one good workout.  Let's play Monmouth Park.

$2 SHOW:  #2 Hung Jury.
$2 SHOW:  #6 Raven Hawk.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #2 Hung Jury / #6 Raven Hawk / #8 African Diamond / #4 Muhaaseb, #3 Quick Ride.

Hastings Race 8 {British Columbia Derby~G3~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
This will be a handicappers dream race with all the possibilities.  A field of eleven will make the start and this race promises to be an exciting one with any number of horses ready to cantor into the winners circle.  Distorted Dave (P. Alvarado / Sadler) holds a finite edge with an o.k. last out speed number at a much longer route and three significant, peaking workouts.  Ain (Cardenaz / Condilenios) is the only other horse in the field to grapple with this distance having the highest speed number and a couple of decent last out speed numbers.  All others in the field are yet unproven at this distance.  Cherokee Notion (R. Baze / Taylor) looks primed with the third highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and two robust workouts.  Prince Intent (Gutierrez / Taylor) looks ready with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two great workouts.  Once again, mindful of our budget, let's play Hastings.

$2 SHOW:  #3 Distorted Dave.
NO 10 CENT Superfecta offered at Hastings.
