Stakes Saturday along the Derby Trail

Despite it being the Super Bowl weekend, there is some great horse racing action on the docket.  Particularly this Stakes Saturday where a number of graded races will be run featuring KD 138 prospects.  Today we look at a couple with two great eight horse fields.  Thrilling Derby trail rides begin.

Aqueduct Race 9 {Withers~G3~1 1/16 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A spectacular race will unfold with an exceptionally talented field of eight.  Any one of these colts could pull off the victory.  Speed will be adequately present which might work well for those coming off the pace.

#7 Alpha (Dominguez / McLaughlin) will be the overwhelming favorite with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression and one bullet workout.  This guy should be able to track and close his way into the winners circle.  Not much value will be offered with him.
$1 WIN.

#6 Tiger Walk (Karamanos / Correas) should pose a nice challenge with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four stellar, peaking workouts.  This colt should sit right off the pace ready to explode into the stretch.
$1 PLACE / SHOW.

#3 Swag Daddy (Alvarado / R. Dutrow) holds the most varietal running style and could challenge this field mightily.  He has two wins at this distance as well as a couple of decent last out speed numbers.  This colt is working with a three race progression and has put in four superb, peaking workouts. He is one to watch as a lover of the Aqueduct track.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#1 Hakama (Pimentel / Trombetta) will share speed duties with the third highest last out speed number and three excellent, peaking workouts.  He is 100% in the money from four career starts.  He could hold on for a piece of the purse pie.

Santa Anita Race 6 {Robert B. Lewis~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
Another great race takes shape with eight colts making the start.  All will be seeking additional graded earnings to qualify for a spot in the Kentucky Derby.  A strong pace should move the race along considering a good number of forwardly placed runners in it.

#2 Liaison (Bejarano / Baffert) looks the strongest going in sharing the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and five superlative, peaking workouts.  A decent pace should set this colt up for the victory.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Rousing Sermon (Talamo / Hollendorfer) will challenge also with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and five incredibly good, peaking workouts.  Another closer who will take full advantage of a quick pace.

Other Wagering Interests

#1 Isn't He Clever (Nakatani / H. Dominguez) will be stretching out for the first time with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three robust workouts.  He should be forwardly placed seeking to hold on for a piece.
