American Stakes Saturday

A number of great stakes races stack up this Saturday.  We will take a look at the American Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Betfair Hollywood Park Race 8 {American Handicap~G2~1 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}

A extremely talented group of eleven will make their start on the grass in this annual race.  There is sufficient speed to make the race very interesting.  It measures up to be a thrilling race.

#10 Mr. Commons (Smith / Shirreffs) has a slight edge coming off a brief layoff with the second highest last out speed number and three excellent workouts.  He holds the highest speed number at the distance and appears ready to roll into a nice closing run.
$2 WIN / $3 SHOW.

#1 Compari (Bejarano / Jones) will challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and three solid workouts.  He holds the second highest speed number over the Hollywood turf and has eight wins in a sixteen race career.  Expect him to press the pace with first strike capability in the stretch.
#2 SHOW.

#7 Barney Rebel [IRE] (E. Flores / Blacker) may surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three efficient workouts.  This Irish bred could control the pace and head home for a piece of the purse pie.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#4 Great Warrior [BRZ] (Valdivia / Avila) could surprise in his third race this year with a couple of decent last out speed numbers.  He is coming off a longer route and has put in two robust workouts.  He could find himself mid-pack ready to unleash in the stretch.

#11 Venemous [GB] (Talamo / Powell) will be making his first start this year after an extended layoff.  He is 70% in the money at this distance in ten starts.  This guy has had a strong career racing in France and could perform well in his fourth North American start.  He has put in four sensational workouts prepping for this one.

Friday's Results
Churchill Downs R10.  Allowance.  Our first pick, Refugio, finished 3rd for show money of $3.00.  Our second pick, Avid, finished 4th.
Superfecta went 7-6-8-4.
Bankroll gets a trim to $12.22.
