Maiden Turf begins Horse Racing Weekend

We go to the Turf to begin our horse racing weekend.  A little Southern California sun to spark set it off.

Santa Anita Park Race 5 {1 1/8 mile~TURF~4 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Maiden Special Weight}
A solid group of eight will take to the Turf in this maiden race. The race comes up a little light on speed, but the speed numbers are all relatively comparable. It should be a highly competitive affair.

#3 Egyptian Empire (Van Dyke / Dollase) might have a slight edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three strengthening workouts. She loves the Turf demonstrated by her 100% in the money record over it. This gal will be tracking the pace closely ready to strike.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Loufoque (Espinoza / Mandella) should give chase with an o.k. last out speed number at this distance and four endurance producing workouts. She is another that enjoys the surface. This gal is coming off an extended layoff. Look for her to be closing swiftly.

#5 Purple Rose (Smith / Gallagher) is coming into this race with the fourth highest last out speed number and three superb workouts. She should be forwardly placed ready to roll. This gal should fire fresh off a brief layoff.

#1 Nicegirlsfinshlast (Bejarano / Eurton) should be in the mix as the other gal that likes to be forwardly placed.  She holds the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one strong workout.
