Stakes Saturday Turf

On this Stakes Saturday we look in on a neat little Turf race down in New Orleans.

Fair Grounds Race 9 {Black Gold Stakes~7 1/2 furlongs~TURF~3 year-old~Stakes}
A solid group of nine will take to the grass in this featured stakes race. There is enough speed to maintain a willing pace. A few in this one will be making their Turf debut which makes the race all the more interesting. Four members of this cast are Triple Crown nominees. In terms of speed numbers, the group is fairly close to each other in overall speed. It should be an exciting race.

#9 Another Lemon Drop (Graham / Bauer) might have the edge with the highest last out speed number at a route and three stellar peaking workouts. This son of Lemon Drop Kid will be looking for some serious pace to close into. He holds the highest speed number of the group over the Turf.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  / $3 SHOW.

#7 Fusiachi Flame (Eramia / Geher) should challenge with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a route and three strong peaking workouts. As a son of Fusaichi Pegasus, he has significant versatility to his running style which should fit into whatever pace scenario develops. This guy has already captured a victory at this distance.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#5 Fly Friendly Sky (Geroux / S. Flint) will contend with the third highest last out speed number at a shorter Turf sprint, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts. This son of Sky Mesa should sit right of the pace and get first jump in the stretch. He holds a victory over the Fair Grounds Turf.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Bourbon Cowboy (Mena / R. Scherer) should be in the hunt with the second highest last out speed number and three solid workouts. He will be stretching and hitting the Turf for the first time. This son of Cowboy Cal has done well over the synthetic and should transition nicely to Turf. He should be tracking the pace looking for an opening coming into the stretch.

#1 Two Step Temper (Torres / Maker) should be in the hunt sharing the third highest last out speed number, working a two race progression, and putting in two stout workouts. This son of Two Step Salsa will be closing swiftly.
