Horse Racing Weekend begins with a Turf Sprint

It is Belmont Stakes week.  On this Thursday, the start of our horse racing weekend, we take a peek at a fabulous Turf stakes race at magnificent Belmont Park.

Belmont Park Race 7 {Intercontinental Stakes~7 furlongs~TURF~4 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}

A high caliber field of fourteen ladies will hit the green in this feature stakes race. There is plenty of speed in the large field which will make for a very fluid pace. These fine ladies are equally matched in terms of speed figures. This will be a very contentious race. It may come down to which gal has the cleanest trip.

#11 Mabre Rose [IRE] (I. Ortiz / Clement) might have the edge with the highest (3-way tie) last out speed number at a route, a three race progression, and three hearty workouts. She has already scored a victory at this distance. This gal will be tracking the pace ready to pounce.
$1 WIN  /  $2 SHOW.

#12 Shrinking Violet (Desormeaux / Ward) should challenge with the second highest last out speed number and three superb peaking workouts. She also holds the highest speed number over the Turf and will be tracking the pace setters.
$1 SHOW

Other Wagering Interests

#13 Radiator [GB] (Rosario / Mott) will contend sharing the highest last out speed number, working a four race progression, and putting in two strong peaking workouts. She should be a little closer to the pace than these others and may get first jump on them. This gal comes out of a graded stakes route.

#9 Distorted Beauty (J. Ortiz / Levine) is another with the highest last out speed number. She is stretching out to this distance with two wholesome workouts under her belt. She loves the Belmont course earning a 100% in the money record from four starts over it. She has the tactical speed to go with the pace flow.
