Horse Racing Weekend starts at Santa Anita

Our horse racing weekend starts with a little downhill TURF action.

Santa Anita Park Race 6 {6 1/2 furlongs~downhill TURF~3 year-old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance Optional Claiming}

A interesting group of seven will make the journey to the downhill Turf start. There is plenty of speed to keep an active pace. Speed numbers are very close. A couple in here will make the transition from synthetic to Turf. It should be a excellent race.

#4 Baruta [BRZ] (Prat / Mandella) should be able to use her speed to capture this one. She holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four superb peaking workouts. This gal shares the highest speed fig, of this field, on the downhill Turf coupled with an 80% in the money record at the distance.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#5 Campionessa Dolce (Talamo / Gaines) should challenge while she tries the Turf for the fisrt time. She comes off a couple of victories and a nice freshening. This gal holds the fourth highest last out speed number over the Golden Gate Tapeta surface. She is working a three race progression and has put in three hearty workouts. Expect her to track the pace.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Kool Kat (Smith / Cassidy) should contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three high powered workouts. She enjoys the downhill trip and should be tracking the pace.

#1 Maibaby [IRE] (Van Dyke / Drysdale) is coming off an extended layoff looking to try the downhill trip for the first time. In her first North American start, running a mile route, she scored a solid speed number that fits with this group well. This gal has put in four endurance creating workouts. She should be in the thick of things.
