On To Santa Anita for the Start of Horse Racing Weekend

Thursday is the start of our horse racing weekend. We take a look at nice Maiden Claiming Route at beautiful Santa Anita.

Santa Anita Race 2 {1 1/16 mile~3 year-old Up~Maiden Claiming}

A good group of eight will go to the gate in this early race on the Santa Anita card. There is sufficient speed to keep the pace honest. Speed numbers are all comparable. Most in here have not yet gone this distance so will be seeking to improve on the stretch out. It should be a terrific race.

#7 Aaron Again (Nakatani / Cerrin) might have the edge with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two superb workouts. This lad appears to be coming nicely into form and should be right up on the pace ready to roll.
$2 SHOW.

#1 Woody's Folly (M. Pedroza / Spawr) will challenge with the highest last out speed number albeit over the synthetic surface at Golden Gate. He is working a two race progression and has put in two sound workouts. He could be forwardly placed ready to rally.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Practical (Desormeaux / Pender) should contend with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two robust workouts. He does hold the highest speed number over the Santa Anita track which should help him in navigating the distance. This lad could be forwardly placed.

#3 The Gold Monkey (Maldonado / Headley) looks ready to rock with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and four superlative peaking workouts. With a frothy pace, he should be closing swiftly.

10 CENT Superfecta

#7 Aaron Again  /  #1 Woody's Folly  /  #6 Practical  /  #3 The Gold Monkey.
