A New Year of Horse Racing 2013

Happy New Year.

Happy Birthday to all of the marvelous Thoroughbreds.

We begin the first horse racing weekend of the New Year with a nice little Turf sprint.

Gulfstream Park Race 4 {5 furlongs~TURF~4 year old Up~Optional Claiming}
A modest field of eight will journey onto the grass.  Yes, there is speed which brings opportunity to a tracker to get the job done.  Half the field in here has had decent to extended layoffs.  It should be the first of many exciting races this year.

#3 Big Notion (J. Garcia / Jackson) has a slim edge with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one solid workout.  He should be able to track the pace and close well.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW

#2 Determinato (Saez / White) has enough tactical speed to stay close and unleash in the stretch.  He holds the second highest speed number at the distance and has put in four strong peaking workouts coming off a longer sprint in his last out.  This lad should challenge.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#7 Awakino Cat (J. Velazquez / Rice) could surprise with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer sprint and two stable workouts.  This old guy could still have some left in him with his tracking/closing style.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#8 Cajun Breeze (Leyva / Yates) will be in the mix with the highest last out speed number and a two race progression.  He holds the third highest speed number at the distance.  A nice tracking style should suit him well in this race.

10 CENT Superfecta

#3 Big Notion, #2 Determinato / #3, #2 / #7 Awakino Cat, #8 Cajun Breeze / #7, #8.
