Let's Go Long for Friday

On the eve of the third leg of the Triple Crown races, the Belmont Stakes, let's take a look at a race of the same distance for older horses.

Belmont Park Race 10 {Brooklyn Handicap~G2~1 1/2 mile~3 year old Up~Stakes}
An interesting crop of eight will go to the gate in this annual graded stakes race.  There is enough speed coupled with tactically forwardly placed runners to keep the pace honest in this long one.  Among this very diverse field, any one of these guys could pull off the victory.  It comes up as a nice tune-up for the big race tomorrow.

#4 Calidoscopio [ARG] (Gryder / Puype) is a California invader that has a legitimate shot in this race with the third highest last out speed number and three supreme peaking workouts.  He also holds the third highest speed number at the distance.  This guy will be closing swiftly.
$1 SHOW.

#8 Ruler On Ice (I. Ortiz / Breen) will challenge with the highest speed number at the distance scoring a victory.  He has a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and one bullet workout going into this contest.  He has the tactical speed to stay relatively close and take advantage of the pace.
$1 SHOW.

#1 Birdrun (Alvarado / Mott) should also contend as a lover of the Belmont track.  His last two races leave something to be desired, but he has scored two victories in three tries at this distance securing the second highest speed number at the distance.  Expect him to be forwardly placed ready to get first jump on the field.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#6 Fast Falcon (Lezcano / Zito) should be in the hunt with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and one bullet workout.  He is another with the tactical speed to stay in the game.
