Stakes Saturday at Churchill

On the Saturday before the Thanksgiving holiday we peer from the Twin Spires onto the Turf for a extra special race.

Churchill Downs Race 9 {River City Handicap~G3~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A stellar field of fourteen Turfers will hit the grass for this featured stakes race.  There is lots of speedy and forwardly placed types to keep the pace sizzling, even in the crisp fall weather.  A large field coupled with highly competitive speed numbers will lend this race to a handicappers delight.

#4 Keep Up (Lanerie / Clarkson) might have a slight edge with the fourth highest last out speed number and two strong workouts.  This son of Unbridled's Song holds the second highest speed number at the distance with two victories in two races.  Looking to catch a speedy pace, he will be closing hard in the stretch.
$2 WIN / $3 PLACE / $4 SHOW.

#9 Daddy Nose Best (Santana / Asmussen) will challenge with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a seven race progression, and four sensational peaking workouts.  As a son of Scat Daddy, he should be tracking the pace and closing it down into the stretch run.  He holds the third highest speed number at the distance.
$2 PLACE / $3 SHOW.

#14 Skyring (Johnson / Lukas) should be in contention sharing the highest last out speed number at a longer route, working a three race progression, and putting in three hearty workouts.  A son of the successful English Channel, he holds the highest speed number at the distance along with a 100% in the money record at same.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Coalport (Hill / Catalano) should be in the hunt with the third highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three superb peaking workouts.  This son of Kitten's Joy will be racing close to the pace readying for a clear opening.

#1 Villandry (Leparoux / LoPresti) will be in the hunt with the fourth highest (3-way tie) last out speed number and two diligent workouts.  This son of Mr. Greeley has posted a victory at this distance over the Churchill grass in one attempt.  He should be tracking the pace patiently.

#4 Keep Up / #9 Daddy Nose Best / #14 Skyring / #7 Coalport, #1 Villandry.



Friday's Results
Betfair Hollywood Park R5.  Allowance.  Our first pick, Rovenna, finished 3rd for show money of $6.80.  Our second pick, Harlington's Rose, finished 6th.
We scuttled our 10 CENT Superfecta effort due to a scratch.  Superfecta went 5-8-4-1.
Bankroll picks up a couple bucks to settle at $85.43.
