Tidy Little Grade One for Stakes Saturday

On this Stakes Saturday we take a peek at a tidy little grade one in the Northeast.

Delaware Park Race 9 {Delaware Handicap~G1~1 1/4 mile~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Stakes}
A small, but mighty field of six will go to the starting gate in this annual race. It comes up a little light on speed with only two that sometimes like to be forwardly placed.  The odds on favorite, Princess of Sylmar, is the only one to have raced and won at this distance.  It should be an interesting race.

#6 Princess of Sylmar (Castellano / Pletcher) should be able to dispatch this field with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three solid workouts. As a daughter of Majestic Warrior, she should be tracking the pace closely and launch into the stretch.
$1 WIN  / $1 SHOW.

#1 Belle Gallantey (J. Ortiz / Rodriguez) will contend with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three dynamite workouts. This daughter of Aftermarket should be forwardly placed attempting to hold off any challengers. She will be stretching out to this distance for the first time.
$1 PLACE / $2 SHOW.

#4 Gamay Noir (Centeno / Wolfson) should challenge with a couple of good last out speed numbers, a two race progression, and robust workouts.  A daughter of Harlan's Holiday, she has already notched a win over this track and familiarity with it will aid her cause. Expect her to be closing swiftly.
$1 SHOW.

The Others

The balance of the field should be in the mix.  #3 Molly Morgan (Lanerie / Romans) could be forwardly placed seeking to cash with the third highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and one stout workout.  This daughter of Ghostzapper has the tactical speed to endure.  #2 Flashy American (Cintron / McPeek) should also be tracking the field with a couple of spot on last out speed figs, a three race progression, and one hearty workout.  This daughter of Flashy Bull will be stretching out to this distance for the first time.  Finally, #5 Bryan's Jewel (Toledo / Robertson) has the most experience over this track hitting the board 85% of the time from fourteen starts.  This daughter of Rockport Harbor is a little light on speed figures, but strong on racing performance. She has put in two mighty workouts prepping for this big dance.
