Stakes Saturday at Rainy Keeneland

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at a sweet Turf mile over soft ground.

Keeneland Race 9 {Shadwell Turf Mile~G1~1 mile~TURF~3 year-old Up~Graded Stakes}

A superior group of Turfers will battle over soft going on the Keeneland course in this annual event. This race is loaded with speed and forwardly placed types which should make for a fast and furious race. Speed figs are close with nearly all in good form. Interestingly, a half a dozen in this one have posted a win over soft ground. Also, there are three millionaires among the field. It could possibly the best race of the Stakes Saturday.

#4 Grand Arch (L. Saez / B. Lynch) might have the edge as the biggest lover of the Keeneland Turf showing a 100% in the money record from five starts over it. He holds the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three stellar workouts. This son of Arch will race close to the pace and bring it in the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#10 The Pizza Man (Geroux / Bruggemann) will challenge with the highest last out speed number scoring the win in the Arlington Million--G1, a three race progression, and three sharp peaking workouts. This son of English Channel should be close to the pace ready to strike.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#5 Dutch Connection [GB]  (Crowley / Hills) will contend as one of the three Euro-invaders in the race. He is in fine form having collected two successive seconds prior to shipping to Kentucky. This lad has top of the line connections who have done well here in North America. This son of Dutch Art [GB] will be tracking the pace and should take advantage of a heated pace.
$1 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Kelinni [IRE] (Lynch / K. Ryan) is another Euro-shipper that should do well over the soft Turf. He appears to be in fine form with two in the money performances last out. His connections are strong which aids his cause. This son of Refuse to Bend [IRE] will be part of the speedster contingent on the front end seeking to hold off the challengers.

#11 Jack Milton (Espinoza / Pletcher) should contend with the second highest speed number at the distance. His last out was a clunker in a graded effort, but he is coming in with a brief freshening. This guy has two wins over the Keeneland Turf from two tries. A son of War Front, he will be up to the task with his tracking/closing style.
