Another Derby Prep in South Florida

On this Stakes Saturday we take in the exceptional FOY Stakes down in South Florida.

Gulfstream Park Race 13 {Fountain of Youth~G2~1 1/16 mile~Graded Stakes}

A high quality field of eleven KD 145 aspirants will saunter over to the gate in this annual contest. There is enough speed to maintain a seething pace. Speed numbers for all of these lads are very close. It should be a very competitive event. The Gulfstream Park card is filled with great races and this one is no exception.

#5 Vekoma (Franco / Weaver) comes down from the NYRA circuit ready to make hay. He will be seeking his third win in a row after a modest layoff. This guy holds the second highest last out speed number and three superlative workouts. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should be close to the pace ready to strike heading into the stretch.
$1 WIN  /  $2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#4 Bourbon War (I. Ortiz / Hennig) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number and four hearty peaking workouts. He has two victories from three career starts including a win over the Gulfstream track. A son of Tapit, he should  be tracking the speedy pace expected to develop.
$1 PLACE  /  $2 SHOW.

#6 Signalman (B. Hernandez / McPeek) should contend with three good last out speed numbers and four strong workouts. He is 100% in the money from five career starts. This lad will be coming in from Kentucky fresh from a modest layoff. A son of General Quarters, he is another that should track a beneficial pace.
$1 SHOW.

#7 Hidden Scroll (Rosario / Mott) will be taking a shot in his second career start after blowing the field in his maiden run. He holds the highest last out speed number, albeit over the slop at Gulfstream. This talented colt has put in three superb workouts in preparation. A son of Hard Spun he should show speed from the gate.
