Derby Day in Louisiana

On this Stakes Saturday we take a look at another great running of the Louisiana Derby down in New Orleans.

Fair Grounds Race 13 {Louisiana Derby~G2~1 1/8 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

A solid field of eleven will enter the gate in this running of the Derby down in NOLA. There is an element of speed which should keep the pace rolling. Speed numbers are fairly close among these lads. Not one of them has gone this distance; all will be stretching out for the Kentucky Derby points. It should be a very exciting running of the Louisiana Derby.

#6 War of Will (Gaffalione / M. Casse) will be the favorite and it is his race to win. He comes in to the race with a three race winning streak, the highest last out speed number, and three quality peaking workouts. A son of War Front, he should be close to the pace and spring into the stretch for the victory.
$1 WIN.

#10 Spinoff (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) should challenge as he has improved with every race run. He has a good last out speed number and two very strong workouts coming into this event. This lad has hit the board in all three of his races. A son of Hard Spun, he should find himself forwardly placed ready to battle.
$2 PLACE  / $3 SHOW.

#4 Sueno (Lanerie / Desormeaux) should contend with the second highest last out speed number and two hearty workouts. This guy is 100% in the money from five career starts. A son of Atreides, he should be tracking the pace and accelerate into the stretch. This will be his first race at the Fair Grounds track.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Country House (L. Saez / Mott) should be in the mix with the third highest last out speed number and three robust peaking workouts. This guy should take advantage of any heated pace, closing well. A son of Lookin at Lucky, distance will be no problem for this fella.
