Oooha, A Rebel Split

On this Stakes Saturday The Rebel Stakes has been split into two divisions. As one of our Baseball hero's, Ernie Banks, used to say, "Let's play two". And this we shall by looking at both of the Rebel Stakes divisions.

Oaklawn Park Race 8 {The Rebel~G2~(division 1)~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

With Kentucky Derby points on the line the first two finishers of each race may find their way to a spot in the gate on the first Saturday in May.  This first division of the race is intriguing with a strong contingent of invaders from California and Louisiana. There is plenty of speed to keep a quick pace. Speed numbers are fairly close considering each of these lads should continue to improve as they mature. It should be a very exciting race.

#2 Long Range Toddy (Court / Asmussen) should be ready to fire with the third highest last out speed number and two solid peaking workouts. He has the most experience over the Oaklawn track hitting the board in both runs. A son of Take Charge Indy, he should be tracking the pace closely and launch gamely into the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 PLACE  /  $5 SHOW.

#7 Classy John (Cohen / D. Stewart) can be expected to be the speed of the race and could hold on to round out the exacta. This guy is 100% in the money from five career starts. His three hearty workouts should make him steadfast for this race. A son of Songandaprayer, he will be stretching out for this race.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#8 Galilean (Prat / Hollendorfer) should challenge, sharing the third highest last out speed number and putting in three robust peaking workouts. This lad is another that is 100% in the money and coming off two wins in a row. A son of Uncle Mo, he has already secured a victory at this distance.
$2 SHOW.

#9 Improbable (Van Dyke / Baffert) will contend with the highest last out speed number and four furiously fast workouts. It is probable that he will go off as the favorite as he is undefeated in three starts. A son of City Zip, he should track smoothly into a fast pace. Another winner at this distance.

Oaklawn Park Race 10 {The Rebel~G2~(division 2)~1 1/16 mile~3 year-old~Graded Stakes}

Some think that this might be the stronger of the two divisions, but we will have to wait and see until that first Saturday in May to see which one might have the most in the gate on that day. This race shapes up as another fast paced one with several in here that prefer to be forwardly placed. Speed numbers again are fairly close especially among the top boys in this race. It will be another very exciting running of this annual Derby prepper.

#5 Game Winner (Rosario / Baffert) is the deserved favorite. Last year's Breeders Cup Juvenile champ will be making his first start of his three year-old campaign. With the highest speed number at this distance, two victories at same, and four sensational peaking workouts, he is well prepped for his first 2019 start. A son of Candy Ride [ARG], he should be tracking them steadily and run them all down.
$2 WIN.

#2 Laughing Fox (Santana / Asmussen) should present a significant challenge with the fourth highest last out speed number and two hardy peaking workouts. This lad has two wins in a row over the Oaklawn strip and at this distance. A son of Union Rags, he has improved dramatically with every start. Another that will track the pace.
$2 PLACE  /  $3 SHOW.

#8 Gunmetal Gray (Prat / Hollendorfer) should contend with a couple of good last out speed figs and four superb workouts. This guy holds the second highest speed number at the distance hitting the board in two of this three starts at same. A son of Exchange Rate, he should close gallantly
$2 SHOW.

#7 Our Braintrust (Cohen / Casse) should be in the hunt with the highest last out speed number at a longer route and three valiant peaking workouts. This guy is 100% in the money from five starts. A son of Freud, he should be another that tracks the pace.
