Tune Up Before the Arlington Million

Thursday, the start of the horse racing weekend.  Today we do a little handicapping tune-up before this Saturday's Arlington Million.  The setting is beautiful Arlington Park.  On Saturday it will be all Turf races with the exception of race number two.  Today we will look at a very competitive Turf route.

Arlington Park Race 5 {1 1/16 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Allowance}
A highly competitive field of eleven will go to the gate in this Turf race.  A few in here will be making their eleventh start in as many months without an extended layoff which makes this race challenging.  Matai (Castanon / Proctor) has a slight edge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and four awesome, peaking workouts.  Corredor Dela Isla (Geroux / Catalano) will be the chief challenger with a decent last out speed number over the same distance and four athletic workouts.  Copper Forest (Alvarado / Rivelli) will show early speed with a perfect record (2/2) at the distance, a decent last out speed number, and one solid workout.  Council Oak (Razo / Von Hemel) looks ready to take a piece with the fourth highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three sturdy, peaking workouts.  Let's play the beautiful Arlington Park Turf course.
