Turf Sprint Day

Thursday starts our horse racing weekend.  Today we look at a couple of five furlong Turf sprints at Arlington Park and Del Mar.

Arlington Park Race 8 {5 furlong~Turf~3 year old Up~Allowance}
Two have already scratched from this nice Turf sprint reducing the field to seven.  Jetlaunchs Heart (Perez / Terrien) may be the big surprise with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and one bullet workout.  My Man Moran (Geroux / Quinn) coming off a short layoff looks strong enough to challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one swift workout.  Skiff's Argument (Diego / McMullen) looks to be in the hunt with the fourth highest last out speed number in his only career race.  He has put in  a good workout and can be expected to show improvement in this, his second race.  Captain Jack (Razo / Granitz) will also challenge in his first grass effort.  With the second highest overall speed number and three agressive, peaking workouts, he can be expected to close well in the stretch.  Saint Leon (Baird / Boyce) shows the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid workouts.  Apache Sunrise (Hamilton / Von Hemel) should make a fresh challenge coming off an extended layoff with two solid last out speed numbers and three tremendous, peaking workouts.  He should do well on the front end.  Let's play Arlington Park.

$2 WIN / SHOW:  #4 Jetlaunchs Heart.
$2 SHOW:  #2 My Man Moran.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #4 Jetlaunchs Heart / #2 My Man Moran / #9 Skiff's Argument / #6 Captain Jack, #1 Apache Sunrise.

Del Mar Race 7 {5 furlong~Turf~3 year old Up~Optional Claiming}
An extremely competitive field of eight go to the gate.  Bradium (Rosario / Glatt) holds a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three robust, peaking workouts.  Mallinson Road [NZ] (Talamo / Hollendorfer) looks to improve with his second USA start with a decent last out speed number and four athletic, peaking workouts.  Winter Camp (Pedroza / Miller) looks to improve with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two swift, peaking workouts.  Grace Upon Grace (Santiago / Solis) can be expected to challenge with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and two sinewy, peaking workouts.  Quick Enough (Flores / Mitchell) could pull off the victory, but he is wheeling back to the track after only eleven days rest.  He holds the highest (tie) last out speed number and is 100% in the money over five races on the Turf.  Let's give Del Mar our best shot.
