Furlong Friday at Gulfstream

On this Friday we take a look at a good sprint race at Gulfstream.

Gulfstream Park Race 9 {6 1/2 furlongs~4 year old Up~fillies/mares~Optional Claiming}
A great group of eight will go to the gate.  There is plenty of speed to keep the race swift.  All but one are dropping in distance from their previous race.  A few are coming into this race fresh with modest layoffs.  It should be a very good race.

#2 Salamera (Castellano / Garcia) might have a slight edge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and one true workout.  This gal should stay close to the pace ready to tackle the leaders.
$1 SHOW.

#5 Calistoga (Rosario / Mott) should challenge as the possible favorite with a couple of good last out efforts and three speedy workouts.  She should be forwardly placed ready to pounce in the stretch.  This gal also holds the highest speed number at the distance.
$1 SHOW.

#4 Jamaican Smoke (Lezcano / Kenneally) will contend with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and one solid workout.  She holds the second speed number at the distance.  Count on her to be the speed of the race.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#3 Sky Skier (Lopez / Breen) should be in the mix with the fourth highest last out speed number and one stout workout.  She should be forwardly placed ready to strike going into the stretch.  This gal is one of three that will be making her first attempt at this distance.
