Stakes Saturday in Hot Springs

On this superb Stakes Saturday we venture a look at a KD 139 prep race in magnificent Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Oaklawn Park Race 10 {Rebel~G2~1 1/16 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
A stellar group of eleven, all but one Triple Crown nominated, will make their start in this annual graded stakes race.  A ton of speed will be gathered at the outside posts making this a potentially fast and furious race.  All of the boys in this one have roughly comparable overall speed numbers which should make the race quite contentious.  Solid workouts put in by all make it even more intriguing.  It should be a fantastic race to watch and wager.

#2 Carve (Nakatani / Asmussen) may well be the beneficiary of wicked speed with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, two wins in two races at this distance, a two race progression, and three significant workouts.  This son of First Samurai looks ready to improve in his third career start.
$2 WIN / $3 PLACE / $4 SHOW.

#10 Super Ninety Nine (Bejarano / Baffert) will be the horse to beat with the second highest last out speed number which provided him with a victory at this track over this distance.  This speedster has put in two diligent workouts and appears ready to take another step forward towards the Kentucky Derby.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Delhomme (Gomez / Pletcher) will challenge with the highest last out speed number at a longer route, a three race progression, and four sensational workouts.  This guy not only has speed, but the capability to sit back and let the pace develop.  He is another with eyes on the Derby prize.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#9 Oxbow (Smith / Lukas) is another speedster looking for Derby points with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and three strong, peaking workouts.  If able to control the pace he could score big.

#1 Treasury Bill (Talamo / Ellis) could be the big surprise as this colt continues to improve.  Coupled with #1A Title Contender (Quinonez / Catalano), a speedy type, this guy should benefit from a fierce pace.  He holds a couple of decent last out speed numbers at sprints, is working a three race progression improving with each of his three career starts, and has put in three robust peaking workouts.  This son of Lemon Drop Kid could use his closing kick should the pace melt down.
