Hawthorne Furlong Friday, Episode Three

Furlong Friday is here.  Again we venture to stately Hawthorne Race Course to study a competitive race on the dirt.

Hawthorne Race Course Race 3 {6 furlongs~3 year old Up~Claiming}
A modest field of eight will go to the gate in this six furlong dash.  There is a ton of speed entered which may set up nicely for the one that tracks the pace closely and launches into Hawthorne's long stretch.  It should be a good race.

#8 Shrewd Operator (EE Perez / Block) might go off as the favorite and should pull off the victory with the right kind of trip.  He holds the highest speed at the distance (triple digit), the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and three sensational, peaking workouts.  No doubt the horse to beat with a forwardly placed running style.
$1 WIN / $1 SHOW.

#2 Feels Like Flying (Sukie / Vega) should pose a nice challenge with the highest last out speed number at a route and a three race progression.  This guy has a decent 60% in the money record at the distance and holds the fourth highest speed number over the Hawthorne track.
$1 SHOW.

#4 Toro Grande (Cosme / C. Dorris) should be in the mix sharing the second highest last out speed number, working a three race progression, and putting in two robust workouts.  This guy could sit and wait for the pace to develop and engage the field in the stretch run.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#3 Thatlleaveamark (Canchari / Lynn) should contend with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one relevant workout.  This lad should be motoring on the front end in swift fashion.

10 CENT Superfecta

#8 Shrewd Operator / #2 Feels Like Flying / #4 Toro Grande / #3 Thatlleaveamark.
