Happy New Year, 2014 !!

The New Year begins and so does our first horse racing weekend of 2014.
A Thursday Turf Sprint is a great start for what we hope will be a tremendous year.

Gulfstream Park Race 8 {5 furlongs~TURF~4 year old Up~Optional Claiming}
An intriguing group of twelve will venture onto the grass in this feature Turf sprint.  All but one are coming off brief layoffs.  In essence, all will be firing fresh as the new year begins.  There is a ton of speed which could make the pace sizzle.  This is a competitive bunch which is relatively closely matched.

#5 Awakino Cat (Davis / Walder) could have an edge with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one good workout.  This cat loves the Gulfstream track and should deploy a tracking style to gather an in the money performance.
$1 SHOW.

#11 Night Officer (Castellano / B. Brown) should contend with a couple of decent last out speed numbers, a three race progression, and three superb peaking workouts.  He holds the third highest speed number at the distance coupled with an exemplary 90% in the money record at same in ten starts.
$1 SHOW.

#9 Bold Thunder (Lopez / Farro) should be in the hunt with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one bullet workout.  He should be forwardly placed ready to make a move coming into the turn.
$1 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#3 Mish Mosh (Leparoux / Maker) will be part of the front running speed attempting to hold off the others with the third highest last out speed number and three solid workouts.  He has a career 92% in the money record from thirteen starts.
