MILLION Day 2014

A great day for Stakes Saturday as we look at two of the best at the beautiful Arlington International Race Course.  World renowned trainers and some of the best jockey's in the world have converged upon the Northwest Chicago track to make it one of the most exciting days of racing this year.

Arlington International Race 8 {Secretariat~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year old~Stakes}
An evenly matched crew of eight will go to the gate. It was learned one of the contenders, Belisarius [IRE], has come down with a cough and will not make the run. The race comes up a little light on speed, but still should get a sound pace.  Most in this one will be firing fresh coming off brief layoffs. It should be an incredibly competitive race.

#6 Adelaide [IRE] (Moore / O'Brien) should have the edge with the second highest last out speed number and a two race progression. A son of the legendary Turfer, Galileo [IRE] has done very well across the pond and last out placed second in the Belmont Derby. He comes into this one 100% in the money from five starts.
$2 WIN  / $3 SHOW.

#9 Tourist (Rosario / Mott) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and two stout workouts. He will be stretching out to this longer distance, but as a son of Tiznow, it should not be a problem for him.  This lad has already secured three victories over Turf from three starts on the surface.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Can'thelpbelieving (Graham / Motion) should contend with a couple of good last out speed numbers and one robust workout. This son of Duke of Marmalade [IRE] is coming off a longer route and relishes this surface. Expect him to track and close into stretch.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#7 Divine Oath (Geroux / Pletcher) should contest these fellas gallantly with the second highest (tie) speed number at the distance which happened to be his last outing. He holds a three race progression and has put in three diligent workouts.  This son of Broken Vow should track the pace favorably.

10 CENT Superfecta

#6 Adelaide [IRE]  /  #9 Tourist  /  #8 Can'thelpbelieving  /  #7 Divine Oath.

Arlington International Race 10 {ARLINGTON MILLION~G1~1 1/4 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~Stakes}
An extremely competitive pack of seven will take to the Arlington green.  There is an absence of speed in this one.  Count on a aggressive quickening rounding for home.  All of these fellas are capable of landing in the winners circle.  It should be a nail biter.

#3 Magician [IRE] (J. O'Brien / A. O'Brien) will be the favorite with  a strong racing record on the European circuit.  He is 100% in the money from four starts at this, his favored distance. A son of Galileo [IRE], he should be tracking the pace closely, ready to shoot through the stretch.
$2 WIN  /  $3 SHOW.

#6 Real Solution (Castellano / C. Brown) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four explosive workouts. As a son of the great Kitten's Joy, he has a strong affinity for the Turf. He is another that will be in the track pack.
$2 PLACE  / $3 SHOW.

#2 Smoking Sun (Pasquier / Bary) is another Euro invader looking for the thrill of victory in the states. He was last seen taking a second in Singapore after spending his career on the European continent.  This lad is a son of Smart Strike.  Expect him to show a furious closing kick.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#7 Side Glance [GB] (Spencer / Balding) may be in the lead by default.  Should he be sent, it is possible that he dons a ski mask and takes the race.  He holds the second best last out speed number and a two race progression. This son of Passing Glance [GB]  looks to improve on his last in the money appearance at Arlington.
