Classic Turf at Hollywood Park

Today is the closing day of the Hollywood Park meet.  We look at the marathon Turf battle at this legendary race track to close out our horse racing weekend.

Hollywood Park Race 8 {Sunset Handicap~G3~1 1/2 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
It appears that this will be the most equally matched race of the Hollywood Park meet.  A couple of speedsters are ready to take the field out on a classic journey over the Turf.  Either could hold on to get the win.  Without equivocation, any one of this field of eight could win this race.  We have to go with those that have been tested at this distance.

#5 Falcon Rock [IRE] (Gomez / Callaghan) appears ready to pop a good one before a much needed rest.  He has been consistant this year, but hasn't had that one great race.  Could this be the one?  He has had a couple of decent last out speed numbers and is showing two peaking workouts.  The only runner in the group that is 100% in the money at this distance over six races.  He will be tracking the leaders.
$2 SHOW.

#9 Ashtar [CHI] (Pedroza / Gardenas)  looks promising with a very robust, peaking tab of five outstanding workouts.  He is coming off a five-month layoff after winning a group 1 race at this distance in his native Chile.  He is proven at this distance.  Have to take a flyer on him.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#1 Impontente Purse [BRZ] (Sutherland / Avila) looks ready to tackle this group with a decent last out speed number and two strong workouts.  He is 50% in the money at the distance over six races.  Could surprise.

#2 Restless Soul [GB] (Talamo / Drysdale) will challenge with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three athletic workouts.  He will share speed duties and could hold on for a piece of the purse pie.

10 CENT Superfecta

#5 Falcon Rock [IRE] / #9 Ashtar [CHI] / #1 Imponente Purse [BRZ] / #2 Restless Soul [GB].
