Route at the Jersey Shore

Closing out our horse racing weekend we journey to the Jersey shore for one of the great summer stakes races, the Haskell Invitational.

Monmouth Park Race 12 {Haskell Invitational~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~Stakes}
This is a pure horse race.  Any one of these fellas are capable of winning this race.  Eight go to the gate.  Of those eight, seven are triple crown nominees.  This will be an exciting as race you will see this summer.  The Preakness winner, Shackleford is here as is the Belmont Stakes winner, Ruler On Ice.  Extremely high quality is evident throughout the field.

#1 Coil (M. Garcia / Baffert) looks well prepped to take this race with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three bullet workouts.  He should be pressing the pace seeking to get first jump on the leaders in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Astrology (Leparoux / Asmussen) will challenge from the outside post with the second highest speed number over the surface and four superior, peaking workouts.  Toss out his last in the cornfields of Iowa in that states Derby.  He should be ready to join the pressers and battle for the victory.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Shackleford (Castanon / Romans) will be the front running favorite with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number at a longer route and three stellar workouts.  Should he control the pace favorably, he could hold off the pressers for a nice win.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#3 Pants On Fire (Trujillo / Breen) looks tuned nicely for this race with the third highest last out speed number (a victory over the Monmouth track), a two race progression, and two robust workouts.  Could surprise.
