Summer Stakes Saturday

Welcome to the heart of Summer.  Some of the greatest Turf racing stakes competition occurs during these awesome summer months.  Today we look at two of the best stakes races over the July 4th weekend.  One at Monmouth Park and another at Hollywood Park.  Bring on the Summer Stakes action.

Monmouth Park Race 11 {United Nations~G1~1 3/8 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
An exceptionally high quality of ten graded stakes racers make their start in this annual summer race.  Equal parts of speed, pressers, trackers, and closers makes this race the one to watch.  Watch the Euro invaders as they attempt to make some hay in the U.S.

#9 Chinchon [IRE] (Gomez / Laffon-parias) should be the betting favorite as he sets hoof in America to defend his title in the race.  A top caliber jet setter, this guy looks prime and ready to tackle this group.  He has the highest speed number at the distance; earning the triple digit in last years race. Clearly the one to beat.
$2 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#7 Stacelita [FR] (Bravo / Rouget) is one of two mares in the race and she is a good one.  Racing in France against the likes of Goldikova and Sea The Stars, she will be tough.  This gal has a splendid record over the French Turf with a 79% in the money record.  She might be overlooked, but will surprise.
$2 SHOW.

#2 Bourbon Bay (A. Garcia / Drysdale) should be forwardly placed ready to strike in the stretch.  He has the third highest (tie) last out speed number and three stamina inducing workouts.  Looks ready to compete at a high level.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#6 Bold Hawk (Trujillo / Toner) will be in the hunt sharing the third highest last out speed number, holding a two race progression, and putting in two robust, peaking workouts.  He is capable of a great race.

#1A Belle Watling (Prado / Biancone) will be a speedster on the front end with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and three strong, peaking workouts.  She could surprise running away from the boys.

Hollywood Park Race 6 {Shoemaker Mile~G1~1 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}

#1 Courageous Cat (Valenzuela / Mott) is the one to beat with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two athletic workouts.  Should make a pressing attack.
