Virginia is for Turf Lovers

We are deep into a beautiful Turf summer.  Many exciting Turf races are sure to come.  Today we look at a couple of dandies at magnificent Colonial Downs.

Colonial Downs Race 7 {Virginia Oaks~G3~1 1/8 mile~Turf~3 year old~fillies}
An extremely competitive field of eight will go to the gate.  All of these gals have been well prepped for this race.  The race is a little light on speed.  Consequently, we will probably see some serious quickening in the turn closing for home.  It should be exciting.

#4 Dynamic Holiday (Leparoux / Motion) has the edge with the second highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and three robust workouts.  This gal will track closely and could prevail at the wire.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Excited (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) will challenge with the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one stout workout.  She should press the pace and get first jump in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#3 Mystical Star (Lezcano / Clement) will be in the hunt with the third highest speed number at the distance, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts.  She should be close to the pace.

#5 Wyomia (Lenclud / Garrisson) could be in the mix as well with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number and four bullet workouts.  She could close swiftly.

Colonial Downs Race 8 {Virginia Derby~G2~1 1/4 mile~Turf~3 year old~Stakes}
A great group of twelve are scheduled to make the start in this premier summer Turf race.  Again, another race with a dearth of speed.  The race should be one of a highly tactical nature.

#8 Crimson China (Leparoux / Motion) could surprise this field with the second highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and three superb, peaking workouts.  This guy is ready, rested, and able to close well for the victory.
$2 SHOW.

#4 Street Game (Prado / Serpe) looks ready to back up his highest speed number of the group also with a six race progression and two fierce, peaking workouts.  He should track the pace ready to strike in the stretch.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#7 Banned (Lezcano / Proctor) will be the prohibitive favorite with the third highest (tie) last out speed number and two strong workouts.  This guy will battle bravely seeking the win from a pressing attack.

#2 Air Support (Solis / McGaughey) should be in a strong position to put forth a great effort.  He holds the third highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and two terriifc workouts.  He should be in the battle in the midst of the closers.
