A Sip from the Cal Cup

This promises to be a wonderful horse racing Stakes Saturday only six days out from the Breeder's Cup on Friday (11/4) and Saturday (11/5).  Today we invigorate ourselves by taking a sip from the California Cup Classic.  Turf is where its at on a Fall Saturday.

Santa Anita Race 7 {California Cup Classic~1 1/8 mile~TURF~3 year old Up~CA bred Stakes}
This comes up as a nice Turf race with a field of eight.  A nicely balanced field of speedsters, pressers, trackers and closers should make for an exciting finish.

#2 Norvsky (Bejarano / Warren) looks ready to notch a win with the highest last out speed number, a four race progression, and three superior, peaking workouts.  This guy can be expected to sit in a tracking position ready to fly in the lane.
$2 SHOW.

#6 Tamarack Smarty (Rosario / Puype) should challenge with the second highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and three superlative workouts.  He appears ready to close swiftly.
$2 SHOW.

#5 Holladay Road (Gomez / Canani) could be the surprise sharing the second highest last out speed number, holding a two race progression, and putting in three robust workouts.  He could put in a tactical effort, swooping down for a "Street Cry" type close.  Our bronze horseshoe goes out to him.
$2 SHOW.

Another Wagering Interest

#8 Soul Candy (Flores / Gallagher) will be a serious contender with the fourth highest last out speed number, the highest (tie) speed number at the distance, a two race progression, and four stamina inducing workouts.  He could come on closing strong.  A victory is not out of the question for this fella.
