Sunday, Domingo, Santa Anita

We close our horse racing weekend with a look a juvenile fillies as they make strides toward the Breeder's Cup next month.

Santa Anita Park Race 8 {Oak Leaf~G1~1 1/16 mile~2 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A fantastic field of ten young fillies will make the start in this grade one.  Each will be utilizing this race as a prep for the Breeder's Cup, the first weekend in November at Churchill Downs.  This is any gal's race.  All have remarkably close speed figs making it a highly competitive race.

#4 Candrea (M. Garcia / Baffert) appears to have the edge already transiting the dirt surface.  She holds the highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two hearty workouts.  She will share front running duties with trainer, Bob Baffert's other charge, #9 Dreamcaster [GB].  Candrea could wire this field.
$2 SHOW.

#8 Weemissfrankie (Bejarano / Eurton) will challenge with the second highest (tie) last out speed number, a two race progression, and two superb workouts.  She will be part of the closing herd seeking the win.
$2 SHOW.

#10 Charm The Maker (Pedroza / McAnally) could be the big surprise with a decent first out speed number and four well built, peeking workouts.  She could close magnificently.
$2 SHOW.

Other Wagering Interests

#2 Self Preservation (Valenzuela / Cecil) will be making her second North American start after racing in Ireland.  She holds the third highest last out speed number and three strengthening workouts.  She could put in a monsterous close.

#3 Killer Graces (Talamo / Hollendorfer) will also enjoin the closing battle with the fourth highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and three robust, peaking workouts.  She should run well.

10 CENT Superfecta
