Off to Belmont

If you love the classic distances, you will love the Brooklyn Handicap at the "big sandy".  Today we look at this race as a tune up for the wonderful race card on Belmont Stakes Saturday.

Belmont Park Race 10 {Brooklyn Handicap~G2~1 1/2 miles~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A great group of five classically bred horses will make the start in this annual event.  You can be sure it will be a relatively tight knit group all around the track with the defining moment at the final turn.

#1 Eldaafer (Valdivia / Alvarado) has a slight edge with the second highest last out speed number, the highest speed number (triple digit) at the distance, and three tremendous, peaking workouts.  He will be ready for the stretch battle that will ensue.
$1 WIN / $2 SHOW.

#2 Drosselmeyer (Lezcano / Mott) will challenge with the highest (tie) last out speed number, a three race progression, and two robust workouts.  He will enjoin the stretch battle.
$1 PLACE / $1 SHOW.

#4 Birdrun (Maragh / Mott) should be the early speed sharing the highest last out speed number and dishing two strong workouts.  This will be his first start at this distance, but he relishes the Belmont track.
$2 SHOW.

No 10 CENT Superfecta due to small field.
