East Coast Turf Sprints

Thursday, the start of the horse racing weekend.  Today we look at a Turf sprint at Belmont and one at Calder.

Belmont Park Race 7 {6 furlongs~inner Turf~3 year old Up~fillies/mares~Allowance}
Already a number of scratches have reduced the field to six.  Tempest Storm (Castellano / Domino) looks to have the edge with a couple of solid last out speed numbers and two stellar workouts.  Hangingonaprayer (Lezcano / Martin) looks like she will challenge with the second highest speed number at the distance and two bullet workouts.  Talented Princess (Cohen / Jacobsen) will be coming off a route seeking success at a sprint with the second highest last out speed number and two strong, peaking workouts.  Risky Gamble (C. Velasquez / Signore) looks willing and able with a decent last out sped number and one good workout.  Let's play Belmont Park.

$1 WIN / SHOW:  #8 Tempest Storm
$1 PLACE / SHOW:  #5 Hangingonaprayer
10 CENT Superfecta:  #8 Tempest Storm / #5 Hangingonaprayer / #7 Talented Princess / #4 Risky Gamble.

Calder Race Course Race 8 {5 furlongs~Turf~3 year old Up~Optional claiming}
A nice field of eight in this Turf sprint.  Mize the Big Cat (Cruz / Braddy) was entered for the Main Track Only (MTO).  With only a chance of Thunderstorms, we will handicap it for the Turf.  Should it go onto the Main Track, then Mize the Big Cat should be able to win this one.  Put It Back Twenty (Ribera / Pilotti) could pull of the win on the Turf with a decent last out speed number, the highest speed number at the distance, and one peaking workout.  Foralltheglory (Madrid / Arias) looks very ready with a decent last out speed number and two robust, peaking workouts.  Littlewinged (Olivero / Negrete) will be part ot the speed up frong with the highest last out speed number and a four race progression.  Alcanudance (J. Garcia / Croft) looms on the staight away with the third highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and a limber workout.  Let's play Calder Race Course.
