Sprinting Along the Jersey Shore

The final day of our horse racing weekend we look at two sprint battles; one on Turf another on the Monmouth Park dirt.  Nothing better than sprinting along the Jersey shore.

Monmouth Park Race 8 {J. McSorley~5 1/2 furlongs~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A very nice field of eight will go to the gate.  Silver Timber (Bravo / Brown) will be the odds on favorite and deservedly so.  With the highest (tie) speed number at the distance as well as the highest last out speed number he will be ready to close in on a victory.  Silver Timber also has a four race progression and three superb workouts.  Uncle Gridge (Arroyo / Pregman) will try to get a jump on Silver Timber with a decent last out speed number coming off a longer sprint and three robust, peaking workouts.  Blue Sailor (Vega / Wolfendale) will be working hard on the front end with the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and one good workout.  Perfect Officer (Coa / Weaver) could be the surprise with the third highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and a bullet workout.  Let's play Monmouth Park.

$2 WIN:  #1 Silver Timber
$2 SHOW:  #6 Uncle Gidge
10 CENT Superfecta:  #1 Silver Timber / #6 Uncle Gidge / #4 Blue Sailor / #5 Perfect Officer.

Monmouth Park Race 9 {6 furlongs~3 year old Up~NJ~Allowance}
A solid group of eleven will line up for this race.  Hat Tricker (Figueroa / Serenz) appears to have a slight edge with the highest last out speed number and a 100% in the money record over the Monmouth Park track.  Blaise N Tony (Castro / Pape) will challenge with the highest (tie) speed number at the distance and the fourth highest last out speed number.  Neither of these top two have a posted workout in the last thirty days which gives us some pause.  Afternoon Treat (P. Lopez / Perkins) is capable of pulling off a victory with the second highest last out speed number,  a good workout, and the second highest speed number at the distance.  Delicious Storm (Marquez / Hills) may surprise with the third highest last out speed number and two credible workouts.  Bombast (Pavas / Huston) will motor on the front end seeking to hold on for a piece of the purse pie.  With a decent last out speed number and two hardy workouts, Bombast could improve.  Let's play another at Monmouth Park.

$2 SHOW:  #3 Blaise N Tony.
$2 SHOW:  #8 Afternoon Treat.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #6 Hat Tricker / #3 Blaise N Tony / #8 Afternoon Treat / #11 Bombast, #9 Delicious Storm.
