Saturday Stakes Coast to Coast

It's Saturday Stakes day.  Today we look at stakes races at Saratoga and Del Mar, two of the best horse racing venues in North America.

Saratoga Race 9 {CCA Oaks~G1~1 1/8 mile~3 year old~fillies~Stakes}
A superb group of eight fillies go to the gate in this race.  It will be very tough to beat Devil May Care (J. Velazquez / Pletcher) with the only triple digit at the distance, the highest (three-way tie) last out speed number, and two hearty workouts.  It should be noted that only two fillies in the race have gone this distance, Devil May Care and Acting Happy Bahama Bound (Castellano / Tagg) appears ready to give a star performance also with the highest last out speed number, a five race progression, and four tremendous, peaking workouts.  Acting Happy (Lezcano / R. Dutrow) looks ready to challenge for the victory sharing the highest last out speed number with the two forementioned fillies.  She is 100% in the money running three races at this distance and has put in four very robust workouts in preparation for this race.  Two others that will be looking for a piece of the purse are Biofuel (Da Silva / Baker) and Connie And Micheal (Maragh / Schenttino).  Biofuel has posted a last out speed number close to the tops in this race, has a three race progression, and two exceptionally strong workouts.  Connie And Micheal has the second highest last out speed number, a two race progression, and two solid, peaking workouts.  Let's play the Spa.

$2 WIN:  #7 Devil May Care.
$2 SHOW:  #1 Bahama Bound.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #7 Devil May Care / #1 Bahama Bound / #8 Acting Happy / #6 Biofuel, #4 Connie And Micheal.

Del Mar Race 8 {Eddie Read~1 1/8 mile~Turf~3 year old Up~Stakes}
A fantastic group of seven Turfers will make this race an exciting one.  Loup Breton [IRE] has a slight edge with the fourth highest last out speed number at a longer route, the highest speed number at the distance, and three brawny, peaking workouts.  Hyades (M. Garcia / Cecil) will give chase in the stretch with the third highest last out speed number, a six race progression, and three exceptional workouts. Victor's Cry (Nakatani / Harty) will be moving up in distance with the second highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and four superior, peaking workouts.  Crowded House [GB] (T. Baze / Meehan) looks ready to race his first race in North America after racing well in Great Britain.  He could be the unknown surprise in the race with some high quality "Racing Post" speed numbers.  Enriched (Rosario / O'Neill) could also be in the picture with the highest last out triple digit speed number along with a 60 day layoff.  He has put in three agressive workouts during the layoff.  Let's play where the surf meets the Turf.
