A Six Furlong Sunday

Where did the horse racing weekend go?  It went by like a sprint.  Today we take a look at a couple of nice six furlong sprints. One at Monmouth Park and one at Keeneland.

Monmouth Park Race 10 {6 furlongs~3 year old Up~Optional Claimer}
A nice field of eight will go to the gate near the Jersey shore.  A very minute edge goes to Stormin Bud (Valdivia / Fawkes) with the highest last out speed number, a three race progression, and two athletic workouts.  He will be challenged by the favorite, Soda Pop Kid (P. Lopez / Levine), with the highest (tie) speed number at the distance, a decent last out speed number, and one good workout.  Big Dealer (C. Lopez / Broome) will vie for the lead as well as the win with the fourth highest last out speed number, sharing the highest speed number at the distance, a four race progression, and three robust, peaking workouts.  Uwannapieceofthis (Bravo / Pletcher) should be in the mix coming off a route with an o.k. speed number and one strong workout.  Let's play Monmouth Park.

$2 SHOW:  #4 Stormin Bud
$2 SHOW:  #5 Soda Pop Kid.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #4 Stormin Bud / #5 Soda Pop Kid / #7 Big Dealer / #1 Uwannapieceofthis.

Keeneland Race 7 {6 furlongs~3 year old Up~Allowance}
An eqaully matched group of ten will go to the start in this race.  Bushwhacked (Bridgmohan / Sheppard) seems to be the best of the bunch, but will offer little value as he will undoubtedly be the favorite. Coming off a long layoff he holds the second highest speed number at Keeneland and has put in a solid workout.  Hoping to challenge will be El Gran Sol (Martinez / Frazier) with the fourth highest (tie) last out speed number, a four race progression, and two superb workouts.  Secessionist (Castanon / Von Hemel) will vie for a piece of the purse also with the fourth highest last out speed number and one good workout.  Looking for a piece will be Knownforstone (McKee / Connelly) coming off an extended layoff, but with the finest workout tab of the group. He has put in three sensational bullet workouts which shows he will be ready.  Tide Table (Allen / Bennett) could surprise with a couple of decent last out speed numbers and a solid set of two peaking workouts.  Let's play Keeneland.

$2 SHOW:  #6 El Gran Sol.
$2 SHOW:  #7 Secessionist.
10 CENT Superfecta:  #3 Bushwhacked / #6 El Gran Sol / #7 Secessionist / #4 Knownforstone, #8 Tide Table.
